The Norborne R-VIII School District mission statement is; Building Responsible Learners Who Strive for Excellence! The staff and students at Norborne work hard every day to meet this mission. We are a K-12 school with a population of 180 students. Norborne has earned achievement and been recognized statewide for both our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program and for PLC (Professional Learning Community) program.
Norborne elementary was recognized with a Bronze level award for their work with PBIS. There is also a strong Title I and Tutoring Program.
Our State test scores are above state average in English, Reading, Science, Government and we meet the state average for ACT. We also have a 96 percent college placement rate. We offer seven college level classes, a foreign language and ITV/Virtual Classes. We are very proud to have a 96 percent average attendance rate, successful A+ program and 100 percent graduation rates.
Our sports program at Norborne is also recognized state wide. The Lady Pirate Softball team has been to the state tournament twice, earning the Class I State Title in 2015. Our Lady Pirate basketball program has also been very successful with two quarterfinal appearances in the last four years.
Our football program is a coop with Hardin-Central. Our team is the NHC Aggies. In the last four years, we have seen state quarterfinal play and two sectional appearances.
Norborne School has many clubs and activities, including FFA, FCCLA, Art Club, Drama Club, Band, Flag Corp, Academic Team, Track, Cheerleading, Envirothon, Yearbook, and Archery.
