Heaven’s Helpers

Heaven’s Helpers

Heaven’s Helpers is a group of Christian volunteers who want to put some “walk” to their “talk”.  It is a volunteer organization that relies on donations of gently loved animals, boxes for shipping, and donations.  Before Covid we visited the Carroll House and Life Care Nursing Homes and helped the Carroll County Auxiliary with items for the hospital.  We visited Shirkey’s Nursing Home and patients in the Ray County Hospital in Richmond.  We plan to resume these activities as soon as the restrictions are lifted.  We also sang once a month at one of the nursing homes – on a rotating basis.  Part of our ministry includes giving bears or other stuffed animals in those places, and mailing them to cancer patients who are undergoing treatment.  Our entire message that goes with these animals is “Just like you are holding this bear (animal), God is holding you.”

Since Covid, we have given very small stuffed animals, purchased snack cakes, small bags of chips, and bags of candy for each of the nursing homes to use in their games and keeping the residents active and alert.  We have also given cards for each residents birthday.  We have taken cards for them to be able to send – like for birthday, get well, sympathy and note cards.  Donations of animals may be left at the Goppert Bank or Home Savings and Loan in Norborne, or any of the churches in Norborne. We appreciate any and all donations and could only do this ministry with the help of generous, caring people.  If you would like additional information, please contact  Sharon Case at 660-484-3443.
