In July of 1982, the Norborne Lions Club embarked on what has proved to be a most successful project- the Norborne Soybean Festival. The first festival was held August 13th and 14th, 1982 and culminated a period of planning which strived to revive community togetherness and loyalty, while at the same time promoting Norborne’s most popular enterprise- Agriculture. The Soybean Festival Project, a Not-for-Profit Corporation, was later formed and officers named. Marc Schweder served as the first president of the corporation, and M.H. Heil, the first treasurer. Because of the dedication and commitment of the Norborne Lions Club and community residents, the Festival continues to be a Family Af-Fair! The Norborne Lions Club and Soybean Festival Committee work together to make every year’s festival one that will be remembered which is now held on the first Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in August.
The Norborne Soybean Festival Committee, the Norborne City Officials, and the Norborne Lyons Club, sponsors of the Festival, welcome you to Norborne. Throughout the years, the Festival has seen good times and bad, hot years and rainy years, but the spirit of the Festival remains strong! We hope you will join us for this special celebration!
